What hardware/software should I get for audio recording/creating?

audio recording equipment, home studio basics

I wish to jot down a songs that I’ve created (on guitar) onto CDs, but spending thousands of dollars upon college of music equipment. Do we have any suggestions upon that hardware and/or program we competence get? Also what have been great programs for formulating midi songs?

I’d suggest getting a mac– “Garage Band” is a great multitask sequencer, combining midi sounds, loops, and live sounds. And it’s free with just about any Mac. All you need is a good sound input device (like a Midiman midi interface, or a USB sound box that can accept mic and line inputs) and you’ve got a really good studio. You could get it all done for under $1000 (including the computer!)
